What is High Pressure Drain Jetting?

High pressure drain jetting, sometime called hydrojet drain cleaning or hydro jetting is the process of using a high pressure water jet on the end of a long hose, to blast clean sewer pipes.

Pressures used normally range from 200 bar (3,000 psi) but may be as high as 700 bar (10,000 psi) when hard scale or roots are causing recurring blockages.

The jet blasts a water stream backwards at high velocity. The resulting “rocket” force propels it (and the trailing hose) up the pipe. It blasts clean the pipe wall and flushes debris back downstream, turning much of it into harmless slurry, which flows away.

The principle of high pressure drain cleaning first appeared in 1960’s. Since then, the method has been improved dramatically.

In 1980 Flowplant introduced the Jump Jet system which dramatically increased the distance that could be cleaned by as much several hundred meters. For the first time small trailer jetters could clear blocks that previously could only be tackled by huge truck mounted machines.

Flowplant manufacture a complete range of drain jetting units to suitable for cleaning pipes from 50mm upwards.
