How It Works

To become WJA certified, candidates must:

  1. Complete the Safety Awareness course (classroom-based, 1 day)
  2. Pass at least one practical water jetting module
  3. Renew certification every 3 years with a refresher course

Each course combines classroom discussion, real-life case studies, and hands-on learning — all led by a WJA-qualified coach and examiner.

Digital Jetting Card & Codes of Practice

Operatives who pass the WJA Safety Awareness course and at least one practical module receive digital certificates and digital operational jetting cards. Current course details can now be verified via the WJA app, or via a QR code on hard-copy jetting cards, which can be issued on request. A second QR code provides access to the WJA Water Jetting Injury Treatment Algorithm.

WJA Codes of Practice – All successful delegates will gain access to the full set of WJA Codes of Practice digitally through the WJA app. If preferred, printed copies are also available to purchase.

Click To Examine

The WJA is transitioning from traditional written tests to a more interactive approach using the CLiKAPAD digital response system for all City & Guilds-accredited courses. From April 2025, this system will become mandatory.

Instead of sitting a single written exam at the end of the course, candidates use handheld digital pads to answer blocks of multiple-choice questions throughout the day. This allows the WJA coach or examiner to monitor understanding in real time and revisit topics if needed.

The aim is to reduce anxiety around final assessments, make the learning process more engaging, and better support a range of learning styles and abilities.
